Wide Awake Posted on August 17th, 2010
I used to be completely oblivious to what was going on in Washington. I suspect that has been a common practice and is one of the reasons that our government has grown into this monster that it is today.
The weaker our minds are, the weaker our families are, the weaker our faith is, the weaker our churches are the easier it is for our government to grow and try to control every area of our lives.
We need to cry out to the Lord for mercy, repent of our ways, and put our trust in Him and Him alone. No government can be our savior, only the Lord Jesus Christ is Savior.
May the Lord be exalted in our lives, our homes, our churches and our communities!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Well done, Robin! How true, how true. May we, His people follow Him wholeheartedly that He might heal our land.

Thanks for sharing that.
I just now got a chance to sit down and load it and watch it. Of course, I knitted while it loaded.
We three have been quite busy lately. Hopefully, we can get the soap supplies back to you this weekend.

What political activities do you involve yourself in other than voting? Just wondering b/c it feels like the USA is out of our control as “the people.” Prayer can move mountains but it doesn’t always change national leadership or make a nation focus on Christ, as the Bible clearly shows. Thanks for your lovely blog and for raising your children to know and love God!

Mandy, I agree. It does seem out of control. We have gone to several rallies, to show our support for the Constitution and limited government. While it doesn’t appear that the majority of our elected officials are listening, we are making an impact. As we have gone to some of the larger rallies it is very encouraging to see that there are people, average Americans, by the multitudes who are willing to stand up for our freedoms. Going out of our way to go to a rally far from home to show support for the Constitution is not something many of us have ever done before- so that is encouraging in itself.
Also contacting our elected officials and letting them know our opinions is another thing that we do and anyone can do. It is frustrating when your officials go ahead and vote against the will of the people, but at least we did try and make our case.
Letting others know about what is going on or about opportunities to let your voices be heard is another thing that we do and again, anyone can do.
And then finally, voting. If we can encourage people to vote and vote with a knowledge of the candidate and what they truly stand for that will help to get officials in office that will (should) vote in a way that reflects the values of the Constitution and the people.

I agree. Only repentence on the American people’s part is going to produce in real change. And I’m not talking about the Obama Change! :)
